From the Captains' Log....
Happy New Year!!
It has been an exciting first year for the moonship!
Since our incarnation in April, we have performed innumerable shows
and have lead many wonderful workshops with children of all ages.
(even the very big kids who often forget to play!)
We have planted magic bean seeds as part of the Four Colors Ceremony,
which grew into beautiful stalks with tasty green beans. We have taught
groups of "Problem" middle schoolers how to manipulate giant puppets
and have watched with great amusement as their teacher's jaws dropped
when they performed for their peers. We have brought the stories of
the pirates to life with shanties and plenty of ARRRS and pirate
parades.
As "The Scallywags", our pirate band, we have been writing new songs, and have started to integrate storytelling with the music. We have created a big pirate "circus" with our new dancers, Lady Ivy and Lady Jezebel, and of course our beloved ACRONYMPH. Our favorite show this year was playing to the sold-out Gulu-Gulu cafe with DAGMAR in SALEM on HALLOWEEN! A dream gig for a band of pirates! We are now looking forward to recording our first "professional" full length cd, beginning in January. We also hope to create a live show on a boat for the spring and summer months. Anybody have a Schooner? Jason and Jenn, as " A Coupla Scallywags", took to the steets and performed all the way from the village green in Bar Harbor on July 4 to the Victoria, BC ferry terminal, and down to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, where the rainbow colored locals welcomed us with open arms(and golden dollars!)
