Track 6 Settlement Day Church Service 19 November, 2009

After the coccoon, the entire group formed a parade and walked to church, for a THREE HOUR service!

The service had most of the elements of a traditional mass, with the lamb of god, and communion.
Once again, the tradition was infused with a Caribbean flavor. The songs had elements of African and
Caribbean rhythms, and were sung in creole. A rhythm section of coconut rattles and palm leaf brushes
accompanied the songs.

The large church was PACKED to the gills, and one very ardent woman made sure every person who walked in
got a program. I will reprint the words of this song at a later date-for now, enjoy the devotional hymn of the
Garifuna celebrating and giving thanks for their freedom.
